MAPflow Updates
MAPflow Version 2.5 is Now Live!
October 15, 2024
We’re thrilled to announce that a new version of MAPflow is now live! This software update (Version 2.5) is packed with new features, additional and updated clinical algorithms, full French support, as well as workflow improvements designed to streamline your practice and elevate patient care.
What’s New in MAPflow 2.5?
Here’s a quick overview of the latest features in this powerful update:
💊 New and Improved Clinical Content 💊
TWO brand-new algorithms have been added to our growing library, including:
- Dyspepsia
- Headache (Now part of the OTC arm of the platform in provinces supported by MAPflow where prescribing is not yet within pharmacists’ scope, such as Ontario)
The headache algorithm is the first of several we’re actively working on to ensure we’re fully prepared to support Ontario pharmacy professionals as they gear up for the addition of 14 new minor ailments to their scope of practice. This addition will also benefit our users in other jurisdictions, providing them with access to tailored clinical algorithms for ailments they already have prescribing authority for, helping them better serve their patients.
We’ve also updated several algorithms to reflect the latest research and best practices, including:
- Hemorrhoids
- Insect Bites
- Tick Bites
- Emergency Contraception (Now part of the OTC arm of the platform in provinces supported by MAPflow where prescribing is not yet within pharmacists’ scope, such as Ontario)
🖥️ Software Changes 🖥️
We’re also pleased to share a number of impactful software upgrades that will make your workflow better than ever! Here are the highlights:
🇫🇷 All Algorithms Now Available in French
One of the standout features in this update is the introduction of FULL French support across the entire platform! Every algorithm is now available in both English and French, making MAPflow truly bilingual. This long-awaited upgrade ensures that all users can benefit from a seamless experience in their preferred language. With this change, we’re ready to take MAPflow to the next level as we prepare for our upcoming launch in Quebec.
📄 New & Optimized Reports
We’ve made some exciting enhancements to our reports, making them more concise, user-friendly, and easy to navigate.
- Streamlined Report Headers: We’ve simplified the headers, so you can quickly find the key information you need at a glance.
- Condensed Notification Reports: The notification report for primary care providers has been significantly condensed by removing unnecessary details, making it faster and easier for providers to review essential information without being overwhelmed by extraneous content.
- New Report Options: We’ve introduced two brand-new reports to make your workflow even smoother:
- Follow-up report: This report includes only the results from follow-up interactions, allowing you to focus on patient outcomes without needing to sift through unrelated data.
- Assessment report: This report presents information from the initial assessment only, helping you quickly access patient responses and care plan details.
The new reports make it more convenient to grab only the info you need without having to scroll or search long documents. And don’t worry – if you prefer a comprehensive report that includes both the assessment AND follow-up data, you can still generate a Complete Report with all the details in one place.
You can explore these new and improved reports under the "Assessments" tab — or stay tuned for our next blog, which will give you a full, detailed walkthrough of each report type and how to generate them.
Bonus Update: We’ve also made significant improvements to our PDF engine to make generating reports lightning-fast. What used to take a few moments to process is now nearly instant, saving you even more time as you work. ⚡
🌟 Other software upgrades 🌟
We have a few more surprises in this upgrade to streamline your workflow and enhance your user experience. Here’s what else is new:
- After completing an initial assessment, clinicians will now automatically land on the prescription first, saving you time and steps to get to this essential document.
- We’ve added a new key performance indicator (KPI) to the pharmacy dashboard, displaying the number of products recommended or prescribed, giving you quick insights into your clinical activity.
- You can now search for patients using their health card number, in addition to searching by name, for faster and more accurate lookups.
- Patient search results now display age, date of birth, and health card number, making it easier to verify patient details at a glance.
- Follow-up is now optional for OTC consults (see below), giving you more flexibility in managing patient interactions.
💛 Introducing OTC Consultations 💛
MAPflow 2.5 marks a major milestone with the launch of the first-ever algorithms in the new OTC Consult arm of MAPflow! We’re excited to bring you the same comprehensive clinical support you’ve come to trust, now extended to over-the-counter consultations as well.
The headache and emergency contraception algorithms are the first in this OTC arm, tailored for Ontario and other provinces where these conditions fall outside the current prescribing scope of pharmacists.
Although you likely conduct informal OTC consults regularly, MAPflow’s OTC arm elevates this service by providing peer-reviewed algorithms that make your consultations easier and more efficient. With detailed counselling notes at your fingertips, and evidence-based therapeutic recommendations with a click, you’ll be able to offer your patients the highest level of care. Plus, the platform helps you formalize and document these consults, making it easier to track patient’s OTC medications and providing valuable insights to inform future therapies and services – all while aligning with model standards of practice.
And this is just the beginning - many more conditions and services will soon be added to the OTC arm of the platform!
Why This Matters:
MAPflow’s ongoing updates ensure you’re always equipped with the most current evidence-based tools, helping you stay ahead of the curve and deliver top-quality care to your patients. Whether it’s new features, clinical content, or improved workflows, MAPflow Version 2.5 is designed to make your clinical practice more efficient and effective.
Stay tuned – there’s much more to come as we continue to innovate and expand MAPflow to meet the evolving needs of pharmacy professionals!
