About the SHARP Symposium
SHARP, short for Strengthening Health with Research in Pharmacy, is presented by the Ontario Pharmacists Association and the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy. The symposium turns pharmacy research into practice and policy. The 2026 program at the Chelsea Hotel in Toronto focused on integrated care and health equity, and closed with the OPA and CFP Awards Reception.
Why this panel matters
Pharmacists’ scope grows when research shows what they can do for patients, as in the study of Alberta’s first community pharmacy care clinic. Dr. Nakhla has worked on that path from several sides: she served on the Ontario College of Pharmacists’ Minor Ailments Advisory Group, which developed the draft regulations that let Ontario pharmacists prescribe for minor ailments, she teaches at the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy, and she co-founded MAPflow, the platform pharmacies use to put expanded scope into daily practice.
